The Kansas City Chiefs have placed the franchise tag on fourth-year cornerback L’Jarius Sneed – who played a big role in the team’s Super Bowl LVIII winning campaign.

It allows the team to continue to work on a longer term deal, while keeping Sneed in-house for the 2024 season.

He was set to become a free agent, as this past season was the last one of his rookie deal.

Under the franchise tag, Sneed will be earning a non-negotiated salary of $18.8million.

Sneed can only be on the tag for this one year and the Chiefs will likely try to sign him to a long-term deal or flip him in a trade.

Just last month, days after winning the Super Bowl, Sneed went on an episode of Up & Adams – with the Louisiana Tech product repeating just two words for GM Brett Veach.

‘Pay me,’ Sneed said. ‘Pay me, pay me. That’s what I’ve got to say – pay me.’

Sneed finished the 2023 season with 14 passes broken up, two interceptions, and 78 tackles to his credit.
