Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu has taken matters into his own hands to help Kansas City fans watch the team’s Peacock-only Wild Card matchup vs. the Dolphins.

NFL playoff games are typically shown on national television, though NBCUniversal has decided to paywall the Chiefs-Dolphins clash on its streaming arm Peacock.

And upon realizing that many fans would struggle to watch Saturday’s game, Omenihu devised something of a solution.

‘Alright Chiefs Kingdom, I saw the comments and want y’all to be able to watch us play…So, I’m giving away 90 3-month Peacock memberships!,’ he said on Tuesday night.

‘To enter to win, reply to this tweet with why you should get picked. Picking winners Friday!’

Charles Omenihu, seen as the Chiefs played the Patriots, called the situation ‘INSANE’

The gesture will cost the 26-year-old Omenihu about $1,620, as Peacock Premium memberships go for $6 per month.

As of Wednesday morning, the player’s tweet had been viewed more than 815,000 times.

In a previous tweet, Omenihu lamented the game’s Peacock-only status.

‘Us playing on peacock ONLY is insane I won’t lie,’ he said.

According to reporting from the Wall Street Journal in May, NBCUniversal paid the NFL $110million to exclusively broadcast a Saturday night Wild Card game on Peacock.

Soccer fans in the USA will be well-acquainted with the streaming service, which has exclusively shown certain Premier League games since launching in 2020.

However, as noted by the New York Post, fans in the Kansas City and Miami markets will at least be able to watch the game on their local NBC affiliate, rather than Peacock.

The Chiefs and Dolphins will kick off at 8pm ET.
