A 12-year-old boy has suffered cardiac arrest after slipping and hitting his head in a pool.
Police were called to a property in Haberfield in Sydney’s west after reports the young boy had fallen into the water at 5pm on Saturday afternoon while at a birthday party.
Paramedics attended the scene and pulled the child, from Newtown in Sydney’s inner-west, from the backyard pool on Nicolls Avenue, Nine News reports.

The boy’s parents were not present during the incident and rushed to the home after learning the news, according to the Daily Telegraph.
A Careflight helicopter also responded and paramedics treated the boy at the scene.
The child was taken to the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick and is in a critical condition.
