In a communication to parents, Head of Trinity College Nick Hately said the student was struck by the train while crossing Tambelin Railway Station.

Mr Hately said a number of students watched as the boy was hit.

‘The incident occurred before school and a number of Trinity students and staff witnessed this event,’ he said.

Students Sophie Shepley, 18, and Morgan Taylor, 18, witnessed the incident, Adelaide Now reports.

‘The train stopped and people were running up and banging on the door,’ Ms Shepley said.

‘They were getting everyone’s attention to let people know someone’s been hit. It was really confusing and we didn’t know what to do.’
