Child hit by train at Tambelin Railway Station in northern Adelaide – Gawler line closed

Horror as a primary school child is hit by a train on the way to school with train services suspended

A child was hit by a train in suburban Adelaide during the morning rush hour.

The child was hit at Tambelin Railway Station in Evanston Gardens, northern Adelaide, shortly before 8.15am (ACDT) on Tuesday morning. 

The child is reportedly conscious and breathing but suffered a laceration to the head, the Adelaide Advertiser reports.

They have been taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital for treatment. 

It is understood the child was a primary student on their way to school.

The Gawler line, which connects north Adelaide to the CBD, has been suspended in both directions between Elizabeth and Gawler.

Replacement buses will temporarily operate the line. 

Clark Road, which crosses the station, has been closed to traffic.
