The court heard none of the images related to children who were under her care.

Ede-Borrett had formed an online relationship with a man from Sunderland. The pair communicated over Skype.

The man instructed Ede-Borrett on what to do with the indecent images which she kept on her Dropbox account.

The court heard Ede-Borrett and the man would look at the images together while both online while talking over Skype. Investigators discovered the pair, despite being in different cities would masturbate while looking at the images.

The man, who has not been identified, arranged the scheme so he would not be legally responsible for the images.

During an earlier hearing in September, trial judge Stephen Dawson decided to defer sentencing until he could study the matter in further detail.

None of the images involved children who were under Ede-Borrett’s care

He said: ‘This is an unusual case. The Crown say that by what the police have gleaned it is not a case where the defendant herself has a proclivity to look at these sort of images and that she was manipulated by another.

‘The issue, if there is one, is to protection of the public and herself from being in a situation like this. Maybe the probation service do not have much to offer.’

According to the Croydon Advertiser, Judge Dawson ruled the case was ‘unique’ and a custodial sentence was not appropriate.

When sentencing, Judge Dawson said: ‘On the basis of the facts of this case, she was being used by the looks of it.

‘The man involved left it for her to take responsibility for the images and his hands were clean. Even if he was detected, because of the way he set it up, it looks as if he was making a good job of protecting himself.

‘Having heard the background to this I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a situation where because of your vulnerability, you have been used by somebody in order for him to gain access to the disgusting photos.’

Instead, Judge Dawson sentenced her to a 60-day community order.
