A Chinese restaurant in Madrid has been shut down after it was caught serving roasted street pigeons as roast duck.

The Jin Gu restaurant, in the Usera district of the Spanish capital, was raided on March 25 by local cops, who made several sickening discoveries.

Horrific video footage taken inside the restaurant by cops showed gnarled strips of meat hanging from clothes horses.

Another clip showed a bag full of dirtied meat, and several bowls of plucked and cooked street pigeons.

Local media also reported that the restaurant had eight faulty, rusted freezers filled with bags of unlabelled and undated meat and dish, and cockroaches in the kitchen, as well as a litany of rat traps across the floor.

There were also no thermometers to measure the temperature of storage areas, and the cookware was largely rusted and unsanitary.

The restaurant also held several prohibited and illegal items, including sea cucumbers which are protected by strict marine laws.

Cops also found a secret storage room hidden behind a shelf in the restaurant’s disabled toilet.

This room was not listed on the business’ licence.

In the wake of the raid, the restaurant was ordered to close and its owner is now being investigation for alleged public health crimes.

It comes after it was revealed that a restaurant frequented by Royals, Rita Ora and Selena Gomez has been shut down after a disgusting discovery in the food.

Posh restaurant Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill, west London was infested with mice and rats.

The food was even contaminated with mouse droppings, poor cleaning, inadequate pest control procedures and a failure to comply with a Hygiene Improvement Notice under the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013.

Following this failure, Kensington and Chelsea Council officers decided to take legal action against business operators Robert Kenneth Newmark and Conor George Thomson-Moore.

The duo admitted serious food offences, with the offences related to poor food hygiene practices.

Mr Thomson-Moore pleaded guilty to four charges at City of London Magistrates’ Court last week and is due to be sentenced later this year.

The charges against Mr Newmark were dropped.

Kensington and Chelsea Council officers inspected the restaurant in September 2022 and found a serious mice infestation, cockroaches, and rats.

Excrement was also found around the premises, as well as food contaminated with mice faeces and packets of till white seeds, cocoa powder and flaked almonds gnawed by mice.
