Chris Coleman appointed Hebei China Fortune manager to succeed Manuel Pellegrini

Chris Coleman has moved to the Chinese Super League to become the latest manager of Hebei China Fortune.

The Welshman was confirmed in the position on Sunday, and will be the replacement for the departed Manuel Pellegrini.

Coleman was left without a job after being dismissed from his duties at Sunderland, following the club’s relegation from the Championship.

The Welshman had vacated his post with his national team in order to take over the Black Cats, which he described at the time as the ‘biggest challenge of my career.’

Hebei China Fortune took to social media to announce the appointment of Coleman, on what was also his 48th birthday.

Posting via Weibo, China’s largest social media site, the club wrote: ‘Mr Coleman, welcome and happy birthday.’

The Welshman is an icon for his nation after guiding them to the semi-finals of Euro 2016

Coleman had earned plaudits for his leadership of the Wales team, after guiding the country to an historic European Championships semi-final spot at Euro 2016, where they were ultimately defeated by Portugal.

The Chinese Super League is currently ongoing, with the division being in match-week 11 out of 30.
