Chris Evans takes a cue from Taron Egerton and DEACTIVATES Twitter and Instagram for the summer

Just hours after actor Taron Egerton revealed he’s taking a break from social media for the rest of the year, Chris Evans decided to do the same, but only for the summer.

The 33-year-old Egerton took to Instagram on Thursday to issue a statement revealing that he will take a break seemingly for the rest of the year.

Egerton admitted it was, ‘hard to break away from a cycle that I’ve grown to find a bit addictive and this is me making a commitment to myself.’

Evans, 42, shared Egerton’s post on his Instagram story, adding, ‘Count me in. Gonna take a little break everyone.’

The Captain America star also took to Twitter on Thursday, adding, ‘Hey everyone, I’m treating myself to a summer with less screen time so I’m taking a little break from Twitter and IG. See you soon! Much love!’

While Egerton left his Instagram active during his apparent six-month hiatus, Evans took it to another level by deactivating both his Twitter and Instagram.

Egerton’s statement began, ‘I’m going to take a break from social media for awhile. I’m not sure why I’m making a big declaration about it.’

‘I just think it’s hard to break away from a cycle that I’ve grown to find a bit addictive and this is me making a commitment to myself,’ he confirmed.

‘I’ve gotten myself into a place where I spend too much time scrolling and I actually feel like my ability to sit and be present and read books and watch movies and even seek out the company of people I love is eroding as a result,’ Egerton continued.

‘I feel a bit removed from myself. And with regards to work, I know I am capable of more and IG [Instagram] is one of several impediments to getting me there,’ he said.

The Kingsman star also thanked his fans for, ‘saying such nice things all the time,’ adding he definitely appreciates it, but, ‘I just need to not read the thoughts of strangers for awhile. I’m really not sure this stuff is good for any of us.’

He added in the caption, ‘Have a great rest of your year everyone. And if you’re anything like me remember to leave your fucking phone in the other room a bit more often.’

Evans is coming off his Apple TV Plus movie Ghosted, which debuted in April, and while promoting the movie, he revealed he’ll never host Saturday Night Live.

‘Well, now a cameo I can handle. I’ve avoided hosting ‘SNL’ like the plague for years now just because I’m so scared. It’s terrifying to me,’ Evans admitted.

‘To me, it would just be one of those things that every single night I would wake up in a cold sweat,’ Evans continued.

He added that, ‘a cameo sounds great, that’s perfect. In and out… get your toes wet,’ though hosting holds no interest for him.

‘But hosting, I tip my hat to her. She’s going to be amazing. But it would provide a lot of sleepless nights for me,’ Evans continued.
