Chris Martin gave his fans a bit of a shock on Friday night when he ended the Coldplay show in Las Vegas with a shout-out to his supposed ex, Dakota Johnson.

The singer, 48, who was with the actress, 35, for some eight years, have reportedly got their separate ways after eight years together.

‘Thank you so much everybody,’ the Paradise singer said to the sold-out crowd at Allegiant Stadium, before unexpectedly referencing Johnson’s latest film.

‘Be kind to yourself, be kind to each other,’ he admonished before adding, ‘Don’t forget to see Materialists! We love you!’ in video shared by Deuxmoi.

While the person who shot the video seemed to think the promotion meant ‘THEYRE NOT BROKEN UP,’ others disagreed.

‘I can totally seeing him supporting her even after the break up,’ another stated.

‘You can breakup with someone and still be supportive. Look at him and GP,’ said one fan, referring to the hitmaker’s successful relationship with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.

‘I mean didn’t he help pioneer conscious uncoupling?’ asked a fan, referring to the way Martin and Paltrow formally parted in 2014, although their divorce was not finalized until two years later.

One fan pointed out this wasn’t the first time Martin had promoted the Materialists.

‘He did this after the Stanford shows too,’ they explained.

Martin and Johnson began seeing each other in 2017, but the intensely private couple did not confirm they were in a relationship until some time later.

Reps for the pair have not officially confirmed their split.

Materialists, Johnson’s new romantic comedy, will open in theaters June 13.

The romcom puts Johnson’s matchmaker in the enviable position of having to choose between leading men Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal.

‘I really love a rom-com if it feels like I can connect to the people in it,’ she told Variety.

Materialists is her first in that genre since 2016’s How to be Single.

‘I think I’ve found it hard to connect to the people in some of the ones that I’ve been offered,’ she explained about her absence from the genre.

Johnson revealed she said ‘yes’ to Materialists because of ‘the complexities of all of the characters. The paradox.’

She was drawn to the idea of ‘Everyone being confused about what the f**k they’re supposed to do with their hearts. And what’s the right move? I found that very honest and I found it just so relatable.’
