Chris Pine has sheared off his scruffy beard and reverted back to his clean-shaven look, three months after stepping out rocking a noticeably different facial hair style while filming his directorial debut, Poolman.

After attributing his bearded look to ‘laziness’ during an interview with ET in March, the 42-year-old Star Trek actor cut a handsome figure in a white dress shirt, red trousers and a brown leather belt at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday.

Following a gondola ride through the calm water in Venice, Italy with his Don’t Worry Darling costar Gemma Chan, the Wonder Woman star looked hunkier than ever after cutting his long hair.

He’s back! Chris Pine has sheared off his scruffy beard and reverted back to his clean-shaven look, three months after stepping out rocking a noticeably different facial hair style while filming his directorial debut, Poolman

His handsome Southern California look contrasted to his role as Darren Barrenman in Poolman, which he directed, produced and co-wrote.

When spotted on the set of the mystery comedy film in Los Angeles’ Chinatown neighborhood in June, Pine shocked fans while sporting a bushy gray beard and long blonde hair.

For the scene of the day, the costume department dressed him up in a striped shirt that was tucked into gray pleated pants, both of which were contrasted with a set of white shoes.

The performer accessorized with a set of sunglasses, a beige hat and a red bandana that was worn around his neck for the duration of his time on set shooting alongside co-star Danny DeVito.

The movie, which Pine co-wrote with Ian Gotler, also stars Annette Bening, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ariana DeBose and DeWanda Wise.

The story follows ‘a man tending to a swimming pool who uncovers a sizeable water heist,’ one in the same vein as Roman Polanski’s neo-noir mystery drama film Chinatown (1974), that starred Jack Nicolson and Faye Dunaway.

More to come: Pine's other films set to premiere by 2023 include the comedy Doula, the psychological-thriller Don't Worry Darling and the action–adventure comedy Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

‘Because I’d been thinking about it for so f***ing long, it just seemed like a thing that I would be directing,’ Pine told Deadline of his decision to direct Poolman, which came about while out to dinner with director Patty Jenkins and her husband.

Earlier this year, he joked about his salt-and-pepper beard and longer locks being ‘equal parts laziness and equal parts something I may do in the future here.’
