Chrissy Teigen reveals she has completed IVF, talks being eight months sober during awards season

Chrissy Teigen has revealed that she has completed in-vitro fertilization and is one step closer to having a third child.

The 36-year-old model shared the happy news with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the Hollywood Beauty Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday.

At the 7th annual event held at the Taglyan Complex, she said: ‘I finished my IVF part, so I feel so much healthier and so much better with that.’

As last month, she revealed that she was undergoing the egg retrieval process it certainly seems like she and husband John Legend are exploring surrogacy as she has previously stated that she wouldn’t be able to have another natural pregnancy following the loss of her son Jack.

Back in January she celebrated six months without alcohol and was open about navigating through this year’s awards season while sober.

The star was joined by pals Kris Studden and Alana Van Deraa as she said: ‘These things are very weird for me, because I’m so used to getting so hammered at these things.

‘Awards season, I very much connect to enjoying yourself and having champagne, but I also connected with those feelings of immense regret or stupid moments.’

As she is known for her cracking sense of humor, Teigen admitted to having regret over her behavior at past galas.

She explained: ‘Like, “I can’t believe I said that.” or “I can’t believe I did that” and “I’m so embarrassed.” So, it’s so nice not to have those feelings anymore.’

Last month she confirmed that she was undergoing IVF in an Instagram post as she said that she is indeed in the egg-retrieval process and asked that people stop asking if she’s pregnant.

Writing to her 37 million followers she said, ‘I humbly beg you to stop asking if I’m pregnant because I am the opposite of pregnant!’

In a lengthy caption the candid media personality explained that she’s trying another cycle of in vitro fertilization.

‘I posted about it in my stories, but I wanted to let you guys know I’m balls deep in another IVF cycle to save as many eggos as I possibly can and hopefully make some strong, healthy embryos,’ she said.

The multihyphenate added expressed her frustration with the procedure as she noted, ‘I honestly don’t mind the shots…they make me feel like a doctor/chemist…but the bloating is a b-tch.’

She then made a plea to her fans, writing, ‘I humbly beg you to stop asking if I’m pregnant because while I know it’s said with excited, good intentions, it just kind of sucks to hear because I am the opposite of pregnant!’

Teigen then turned the caption away from herself and suggested that others stop asking women if they’re expecting in general.

‘But also like please stop asking people, anyone, if they’re pregnant,’ she wrote.

‘I said this in the comments and got yelled at because the internet is wild but I’d rather be the one to tell you and not some poor woman who will look you in the eyes through tears and that’s how you finally learn.’

In September 2020 Chrissy and her husband John Legend tragically lost their third child, a baby boy they had already started calling ‘Jack,’ 20 weeks into her pregnancy.

Chrissy shared the heartbreaking news with her Instagram followers shortly after the horrific experience, and posted photos of herself in the hospital mourning the loss of her child.

Not long afterwards, she revealed she would be unable to carry a child again.

‘I love being pregnant, so so much, and I’m sad I never will be again,’ she posted on Instagram.

Despite the loss, Chrissy expressed gratitude for her other two children, daughter Luna, five, and son Miles, three, whom were both conceived via IVF.

‘I’m so lucky for that,’ she told People last year. ‘I just think of it in terms of how blessed I am already, and also there are so many ways to have a child nowadays … whether it’s surrogacy or adoption.’

Elsewhere in the interview with the publication the model said, ‘Coming to terms with not being able to carry again is still really difficult for me because I feel so healthy. I’m like, why?

‘But then I think about it as my uterus is just not cooperating with me — and it’s not a failure.’

In keeping with Thai tradition, the hands-on parents planted a tree in their house to honor Jack.

‘It’s important for us in Thai tradition that we always embrace the ones we’ve lost, and they’re never, ever gone. This tree being planted inside the home, the whole reason why I wanted it was so Jack’s ashes could be in that soil and he could be with us all the time and grow through the beautiful leaves in this tree,’ she said.

‘The way Miles and Luna talk about him is so beautiful and reminds me of when I was little talking to my grandpa who was just sitting bedside next to my mom in a little urn,’ she said.

‘It’s all beautiful, and I love that tradition carries down.’
