Christian Democratic Party warns ‘homosexual citizenships’

The leader of the Christian Democratic Party has claimed gay Australians will start handing out separate homosexual citizenships following Macklemore’s performance of his hit song ‘Same Love’ at Sunday’s NRL Grand Final.

Reverend Fred Nile said in a press release on Friday he is worried the gay community had adopted the song as their national anthem.

Macklemore’s performance of the song, which has been referred to as a same-sex marriage anthem, was largely criticised in the days leading up to the show.

The Grammy Award-winning artist performed the hit in front of as many as 80,000 people despite criticism from Tony Abbott, Bob Katter and a number of ‘No’ voters for mixing politics with sport.

Mr Nile accused ‘yes’ voters of trying to politicise the NRL.

‘The radical left keeps pushing its agendas wherever and however it can,’ he said.

‘The homosexual lobby has its own Olympics, its own award ceremonies in the cultural arena, its own flag, and now we are told they will have their own ‘anthem’. What next? Are they going to start handing out their own separate homosexual citizenships?’

‘I find it incredibly ironic that the ‘Yes’ campaign keeps calling those it does not like ‘divisive’, while it actively divides society on political lines.,’ he said.

Abbott took to Twitter last week to voice his opposition to ‘Same Love’, saying fans shouldn’t be subjected to the agenda.

‘Footy fans shouldn’t be subjected to a politicised grand final. Sport is sport,’ he said.

Macklemore responded to the comments in a radio interview, dismissing the idea he wouldn’t perform the song.

‘It’s interesting actually cause I’m gonna play Same Love and they’re going through trying to legalise same-sex marriage in Australia.’

‘So I’m getting a lot of tweets from angry old white dudes in Australia. Today I think there is a petition to ban me from playing,’ he said.

Macklemore closed his pregame show with the hit on Sunday to the deafening cheers of the crowd.
