Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has made it clear he will not be selling Christian Eriksen to Real Madrid this summer.

The Spanish giants are keen on Eriksen, who has just one year left on his contract at Spurs — with negotiations over a new deal for the Danish midfielder having stalled in recent months.

Real want to snap up the 27-year-old, who was crucial to Tottenham reaching the Champions League final.

Florentino Perez, the Real president, sees him as important to Zinedine Zidane’s planned overhaul of their squad.

But Spanish outlet El Confidential has reported that Levy told Perez over dinner at Madrid City Hall on Friday that he will not be selling them Eriksen.

Perez and Levy have a good relationship, having agreed deals for Gareth Bale and Luka Modric in the past.

Yet Levy is not willing to let Eriksen go as he views him as integral to helping Mauricio Pochettino mounting a push for the Premier League next season.

The Spurs chief is keen to give Eriksen a new contract and could even break Spurs’ rigid wage structure to do so.

It is believed that Levy’s stance is designed to drive up the price for Eriksen, as Real are not willing to spend more than £80million on him.

Eriksen could feature alongside Giovani Lo Celso next season, with the Real Betis midfielder said to want to play under Pochettino.
