Christian Horner insists he holds full support of Red Bull’s bosses and is confident he will remain in charge despite his texting scandal – after his wife Geri joined him in public display of unity in Bahrain

Christian Horner has insisted he holds the full support of Red Bull’s bosses and is confident he will remain in charge in Saudi Arabia despite his texting scandal.

Horner had faced allegations relating to hundreds of WhatsApp messages allegedly written by him to a female colleague. He was later cleared to continue as team principal after a probe into ‘inappropriate behavour’ by Red Bull’s parent company.

The 50-year-old has always vehemently denied the claims.

Speaking after he was joined by his wife Geri Horner in a public display of support at the Bahrain Grand Prix, Horner addressed his future.

‘We’re a very strong team,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘We’ve got tremendous support.

‘We’ve got tremendous partners, great shareholders behind us as well. You don’t achieve this kind of result by not being united.’

Asked whether he holds the backing of Red Bull and that he will lead them at the next race in Jeddah, Horner said: ‘Absolutely. I wouldn’t be here otherwise.’
