A volleyball coach at a Christian school in Virginia has been charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female player on her team. 

Elisabeth Bredemeier, 21, who in her free time hosts a podcast titled ‘Let’s Talk Trauma,’ was arrested on Monday on a count of taking indecent liberties with a child by a custodian and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The Chesterfield Police Department launched an investigation into Bredemeier last week after a family member of a player on Richmond Christian School’s girls varsity volleyball team went to the authorities and made a complaint against the coach.

According to the police, Bredemeier assaulted the 17-year-old girl on multiple occasions off-campus between April and July 2021, reported WTVR. 

Richmond Christian School is a private institution for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The school’s motto is: ‘Educating hearts and minds for Christ.’ 

Following Bredemeier’s arrest, the school released a statement, acknowledging the charges against the ‘former’ employee involving a student, and confirming her recent position as a girls’ volleyball coach. Officials revealed that the 21-year-old woman is no longer employed at the school. 

‘Child safety, education and development are paramount here at RCS,’ the statement continued. ‘As such, we are deeply disturbed by the allegations; we take these developments and their potential impact on our community very seriously; and we are cooperating with authorities.’

Bredemeier also previously worked as an assistant coach at the Richmond Volleyball Club, which is a seasonal job, reported WRIC. 

Bredemeier has been moonlighting as a podcaster, going by the name Rose Bredemeier. 

All nine episodes of Bredemeier’s show, ‘Let’s Talk Trauma,’ are available on Apple Podcasts. The program is described as ‘an open space to talk about and listen to people’s traumatic experiences.’
