Bravo’s Emmy-winning competition series Project Runway premieres Thursday, October 14.

Returning mentor Christian Siriano, along with judges Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell and Elaine Welteroth, takes on 16 contestants from across the United States and abroad.

‘We have a really amazing group of very diverse designers from other countries and cultures and we have a lot of really strong female designers that I think are amazing,’ shared Christian.

The season 4 champ hosted “Sketching with Siriano” at his beautiful Manhattan atelier on Tuesday night to celebrate the new season.

Attendees were provided with all the necessary tools for a fun sketching session: sketch pad, colored pens, various markers and… Sterling Vineyards wine.

‘We’re going to celebrate the new season,’ expressed Christian. ‘We have cookies and a lot of wine and I think drunk sketching is the best!’

The subject of the evening’s drawing class was none other than supermodel Coco Rocha.

‘Coco makes an appearance this season and she was incredible; it’s my favorite episode I’ve ever seen on Project Runway and it’s not because she’s my friend,’ expressed Christian.

Most would agree that few aspects of life have been untouched by the coronavirus pandemic and according to the 35-year-old designer, reality television is no different.

‘All the designers throughout the whole season were very passionate and engaged because I think they felt they has missed out on so much.

‘I think the clothes are incredible because they had all this time to reflect on what they want to do and what they would want to show the world, so maybe different than a normal season where everybody has such a busy life and its hard to focus.

‘I think that’s why this season is really good.’

He added: ‘A lot of the designers have “Come to America” and “Follow Your Dreams” stories, which I think is really beautiful about this season.’

Each 90-minute episode will test the contestants’ creativity and technique with new challenges.

‘My favorite challenge this season is the “avant-garde” challenge,’ shared the New York-based designer.

‘It’s pretty cool, they have to use faux fur in an interesting way.’

In a Project Runway first, contestants will create the ultimate “Real Housewives” reunion outfit for women from “The Real Housewives of Orange County”, “The Real Housewives of New York City” and “The Real Housewives of Potomac.”

‘It’s a wild episode,’ admitted Christian.

‘They are actually really lovely except for like one or two of them.’

The series’ expansive list of guest-stars continues on season 19 with Taraji P. Henson, Billy Porter and many more.

‘Taraji was so fun because she was very opinionated and quite sassy, Billy Porter was great because he wears fashion, he loves it.

‘He gave his opinion as to what he would want to wear. We had a lot of designers and supermodels who actually wear clothes,  so that’s really great. It was a good mix.’

Missing this season is a host.

But ‘not having a host is different but helps us make sure that everyone really gets into things,’ said Christian.

‘Elaine is very emotional about what she likes and what she would wear; Nina is very Nina; Brandon is pretty tough but in a very fashion designer way.

‘Its a really good balance.’
