Christian Wilkins announces new children’s book about a boy who loves wearing tutus – after his Hollywood career was thwarted by SAG strike

Christian Wilkins is stepping out of the shadow of his famous father with a surprising new career move. 

The socialite son of Channel Nine veteran Richard Wilkins has announced that he’s written a children’s book, called Princess Mitchell. 

The 27-year-old said on Instagram on Sunday: ‘I can’t wait to share Princess Mitchell with you all. 

‘The very first copy arrives next week ahead of it’s release in October, and I’m so excited! So proud of this’. 

Princess Mitchell is described by publisher Simon & Schuster on their website as  ‘a heartwarming story about making friends, celebrating differences and embracing who you are’ and is available from October 4th.

Wilkins recently took another big step in his career by moving to Los Angeles to work on his acting and presenting prospects.

He told Who magazine he hopes to secure opportunities in Hollywood this year.

‘I just think there’s an opportunity to go there and see what might happen, and I’d love to try to explore that,’ he said.  

‘I’ve always wanted to be an actor or a late-night TV host. That would be a dream… so let’s try and manifest that and see if it happens.’

Christian moved to Tinseltown in April, but has been struggling to find work because the SAG strike has brought Hollywood to a standstill

Christian moved to Tinseltown in April, but has been struggling to find work because the SAG strike has brought Hollywood to a standstill. 

It is likely a huge disappointment for Christian, whose connection to his father previously helped him pave a modelling and reality TV career back home.

The model has been getting involved in the strike action, having recently attended a protest with Australian actor Luke Cook outside Netflix headquarters.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph during the demonstration, Christian said: ‘It definitely wouldn’t have been my choice example of a time to move here but it is also kind of amazing to be here and see how the community has banded together.’

Christian is best known for his starring role on Stan television series Eden and his appearance on Dancing with the Stars in 2020, as well as his modelling work.
