Christmas Day weather forecast: Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth

The weather forecast for Christmas Day is the most anticipated of the year.

And on Wednesday it’s shaping up to be ideal conditions for outdoor Christmas lunches and dinners, hitting the beach, BBQs, backyard cricket matches and kids testing out their presents from Santa.

Thankfully, Aussies will have a respite from the blistering heatwave conditions that have plagued the east and west coast this month.

Temperatures are expected to range from the mid 20s to the early 30s with Adelaide set for the highest temperature in Australia of 35C.

The eastern capital cities are looking at an almost perfect Christmas Day, with mostly sunny weather forecast for Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.

‘On Christmas Day generally settled conditions are expected across the country,’ Weatherzone meteorologist Yoska Hernandez told Daily Mail Australia.

‘There’s the chance of heavy showers and storms over parts of the northern tropics and significant heat mainly over northwestern and eastern Western Australia.

‘A low-pressure system will move east into the Tasman Sea, while a high-pressure system will dominate central and most of eastern Australia, bringing mostly dry and settled conditions.

‘A cold front will cross Western Australia and this will be followed by a strong southerly change, bringing cooler conditions to the state’s west.

‘Showers and storms are expected over the northern tropics, with a few showers possibly occurring over parts of central eastern Queensland, southwest WA, the NSW coast, the eastern coast of Victoria, and southern Tasmania.’
