Christmas mother hand out gift packs to less fortunate

Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting.

And a Melbourne mother has certainly gone above and beyond to care for those who are less fortunate this festive season.

Taking to Facebook, the generous woman shared photographs of the care packages she put together for the people sleeping rough.

The gift packs included clothes, toiletries, chocolates, mince pies, water, pillow, a yoga mat, a pair of flip flops and a bottle of wine.

‘Paying it forward,’ she wrote on the Kmart Mums Australia page.

‘I’ve been lucky enough to have a great year, instead of buying ridiculous amounts of presents that no one really needs, as a family we’ve decided to go to the city Christmas Eve to hand out these gift bags to the less fortunate.

‘Almost everything is from Kmart, I filled it with things that most of us take for granted & hope my 10 year old twins feel the true gift that is giving from the heart.’

Her selfless act of devotion was met with praise from other families after attracting more than 13,000 reactions on Facebook.

One posted: ‘The world needs more people like you in it!’

While many thanked the woman for her generosity, some claimed it was no ideal to hand out alcohol to the homeless.

‘Fantastic thing to do BUT if that is real wine that’s not a good idea,’ one wrote.

And another said: ‘When I did packs up recently they insisted that anything that had alcohol content not be put in the pack.’
