Christmas party fever boosts ‘sexy and chic’ womenswear brand Sosandar as shoppers stock up on cocktail dresses and strappy heels

Sosandar saw record sales in October and November as women stocked up on cocktail dresses and strappy heels for the Christmas party season.

The ‘sexy and chic’ womenswear brand bucked the economic doom and gloom.

Co-founder and chief executive Ali Hall hailed a return to formal dressing after years spent in glum leggings and hoodies during lockdowns.

Festive rush: Women stocking up on cocktail dresses and strappy heels for the Christmas party season boosted sales at Sosandar

Ahead of Christmas, Hall said Sosandar shoppers have gone ‘absolutely mad for sequins and suits’.

Sosandar sales will be in line with forecasts of £42.8million for the year to March 31, while profit will be £2million, also in line with expectations.

The online retailer – which Hall co-founded in 2016 with Julie Lavington – posted a 72 per cent jump in sales in the first half of the year, ending in September.

Sales hit £21million, up from £12million a year earlier. And it swung to a £100,000 profit in the period, compared with a £100,000 loss a year earlier
