Christmas tragedy as reveller, 24, dies four days after he suffered ‘catastrophic’ injuries in a pub brawl over a spilled beer

A 24-year-old reveller has died four days after he suffered horrific injuries in a pub brawl over a spilled beer.

Jesse Vilkelis-Curas, from the Gold Coast, died in hospital on Boxing Day afternoon.

His mother was by his side as he passed away, 9 News reported.

Mr Vilkelis-Curas was drinking with his brother Nicholas at The Shawsy (pictured) in East Ballina last Sunday when he was set upon by a group of men

Mr Vilkelis-Curas was drinking with his brother Nicholas at The Shawsy in East Ballina last Sunday when he was set upon by a group of men.

The brawl was sparked by a spilled schooner of beer.

Mr Vilkelis-Curas was knocked unconscious and suffered ‘catastrophic’ injuries in the fight outside the pub.

No arrests have been made and police are investigating.
