Cicily Goodwin from the Healthy Mummy reveals how to lose weight after Easter

A mum-of-two who lost a staggering 56 kilos naturally has shared the tricks that will keep you on track after ‘falling off the wagon’ – especially after an indulgent Easter weekend.

Cicily Goodwin, from Nambucca heads, New South Wales, tipped the scales at 128kg after years of drinking 10 milky coffees a day and treating herself to regular KFC binges.

She joined weight loss community The Healthy Mummy and through a total diet overhaul and slow introduction of exercise, the dedicated mother got her life (and body) back on track; she lost just 700 grams per week.

‘Throughout my 56kg weight loss I hit many speed bumps, I fell off track so many times. We don’t always eat on point, but accepting that you will have ‘bad’ days and learning to get past them is key to weight loss results,’ Cicily said.

‘Don’t be disheartened if you see the scales go back up, it’s our body’s natural response so instead of letting it get you down, you need to pick yourself back up and regain that motivation.’

To do so, Cicily recommends a detailed weekly meal plan, scheduled physical activities with friends, progress photos and a three-day cleanse.

She also swears by sticking to mini four week challenges like losing four kilos.

‘Focus on those four weeks and really giving it your best. Even allow yourself two to four cheat days, but smash it out the rest of the time and really give it everything you’ve got,’ she said.

What is Cicily’s day on a plate?

BREAKFAST: Smoothie with fruits such as mango and pineapple.

SNACK: Healthy sesame chia chocolate.

LUNCH: Smoothie or stuffed mushrooms.

SNACK: Healthy chocolate chip muffin.

DINNER: Healthy chicken parmigiana or some protein with vegetables or salad.

‘Have your two smoothies a day, take metabolism support and apple cider vinegar, drink your water, have a lemon water first thing and if you’re really stuck, make a reward system so that every time you hit a goal, you can spoil yourself with something.’

Cicily has inspired thousands with her impressive weight loss which she achieved by losing just 700 grams per week.

‘A lot of people aim big like two kilos but for me that just didn’t work. I decided to take a moderate and relaxed approach to my weight loss and it worked,’ she said.

'Drink three litres of water, do 10,000 steps, enjoy smoothies filled with fruit and superfoods for breakfast, do 100 squats (if you can) and make a freezer stash of meals,' she said

She didn’t stop going out for dinner or eating chocolate and instead ‘lived through it and enjoyed it’.

‘Make it enjoyable! Don’t destroy yourself trying to lose 2kg a week. 700g is the magic number! That’s still 36kg a year, who wouldn’t be happy with that?’ she said.

Now 73kg, Cicily is the lightest she has been since she was 13 years old.

She had a ‘toxic relationship’ with food for years and always had trouble losing weight despite trying countless diets each year.

‘I didn’t care if I ate healthy because it didn’t seem to matter. I think that’s where a big part of my health issues started,’ she told FEMAIL.

In 2016, Cicily stumbled upon leading Australian weight loss program The Healthy Mummy when she was researching weight loss online.

She soon started drinking the company’s smoothies twice a day and coupling these with healthy versions of her favourite meals including lasagne.

Within a few months, Cicily lost over 20 kilos without spending any time in the gym; she stuck to hour-long walks when she had the time.

For those looking to overhaul their health in 2022, Cicily has a simple checklist that she swears by.

‘This is something I did through my loss to keep perspective and keep pushing,’ she said.

‘Drink three litres of water, do 10,000 steps, enjoy smoothies filled with fruit and superfoods for breakfast, do 100 squats (if you can) and make a freezer stash of meals.

‘It’s that easy! Create your list, and tell yourself ‘this is all I have to do today to get to my goal’. You may even feel the motivation to do more.’
