Clackline crash: Three men and a child, 9, killed in horror smash on highway

Four people including a nine-year old boy have been killed in a horror crash on a country highway.

The fatal smash happened early on Friday morning at Clackline, about 80km north-east of Perth.

Three men, aged 45, 19, 21, and the young boy, were heading east along Great Eastern Highway in a silver Nissan Navara ute, when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree about 12.30am, reported The West Australian.

All four occupants of the ute suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the scene. 

The state transport agency Main Roads WA urged motorists to take extra care near Eadine Road. 

A spokeswoman from Western Australia Police told Daily Mail Australia that a major crash investigation has begun, to examine the cause of the crash. 

Detectives have urged anyone who saw the ute driving in the area prior to the crash or anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. 

There have been 55 deaths on WA roads so far this year, nine more than the number of fatalities recorded in 2023.
