Lisa Wilkinson was making money money than her Today show co-host Karl Stefanovic at one stage, an explosive new report claims.
On Tuesday, news.com.au reported that when Karl first signed up to the breakfast show in 2006, he was on half of Lisa’s pay packet, which was a reported $700,000.
‘When they were first on the show, she was paid a lot more than he was,’ an alleged Nine insider told the publication.

‘Then, he was able to wedge a fee increase because Seven made him a big offer. If Nine wanted to keep him, they had to pay him, which is what happened.
‘If you look at what he’s paid now, it’s probably not too dissimilar to what she was offered. So, you know, you can take things in a point of time, but I don’t think there would have been much difference between the two now.’
When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, a representative for the Nine network declined to comment.

Lisa left Channel Nine’s Today show back in October 2017 after a reported gender pay gap dispute.
The Nine Network were ‘unable to meet her expectations’ after she demanded equal pay with co-host Karl.

At the time, it’s understood she had been slated to receive a pay rise from $1.1 million to $1.8 million.
Hugh Marks, who was then the Nine Network’s chief executive officer, claims she wanted $2.3million, which would have placed her over Karl’s annual salary of $2million.
Additionally, Marks claimed that the network were unable to secure access to Lisa’s outside deals and social media.

Marks told The Daily Telegraph at the time: ‘The reason we walked away from Lisa is because we are not able to secure those [other] rights with her.
‘She has a number of commercial rights with other parties. Her arrangement with the Huffington Post restricts our ability to engage with her digitally – we are restricted from engaging with her also on social media.
‘I hate the fact we have to compare her with Karl, but with him we have all those rights. With Lisa we do not.’
The 61-year-old revealed why she decided to expose the man she once considered a close friend in her upcoming memoir, It Wasn’t Meant to Be Like This.
