Claire Richards cries as Steps’ band mates welcome kids

She is an affectionate mother of her two children – Charlie, ten, and Daisy, seven.

And Claire Richards was overwhelmed with emotion when her band Steps invited their offspring to sing for the 20th anniversary performance inLondon on Saturday.

The songstress, 40, broke down into tears as she wrapped her arm around her daughter’s waist and belted out the lyrics to their classic, The Way You Make Me Feel.

In heartwarming moments leading up to the group rendition, each of the band members introduced their kids to the eager concert-goers.

The band wanted to mark the special anniversary with their children, making their energetic performance a family affair. 

Ian ‘H’ Watkins, 41, proudly cradled his one-year-old twins Macsen and Cybi, who watched their dad adoringly as they perched on his knees.

He shares his children with his beau Craig Ryder, whom welcomed the duo into the world via a surrogate in March 2016.

Faye Tozer, 42, happily introduced her beaming eight-year-old son Benjamin Barrington Tozer-Smith to the crowd.

Lisa was also in the good company of her kids eight-year-old Lily and nine-year-old Jaden Shentall-Lee.

While Lee Latchford-Evans had no children to bring out onto the stage, he made a joke at his own expense claiming he wanted to introduce fans to his dog.

Mum-of-two Claire currently raises her children with her husband Reece Hill — who she married in 2008.

She was previously married to dancer Mark Webb in 2003 but they went their separate ways in 2005.

The songstress decided to slim down in 2013 after her doctor informed the star she may not be able to conceive for a third time because of her weight. 

Claire discussed how her dramatic yo-yo dieting has played a huge role in her life in a candid interview with Loose Women back in July 2015.

‘I have accepted people will always want to know what my weight is. It has dominated so much of my life,’ she admitted. ‘When I lose weight, people come and tell me I’ve inspired them. I really like that. 

‘But when I gain weight, I get trolled online by keyboard warriors who think they have the right to judge what my scales say. 

‘You can’t win, so I stopped trying to please people, apart from my family, a long time ago. I am who I am and I weigh what I weigh. It just happens to change a lot.’ 

The pop star confessed in her tell-all book All Of Me: My Story that she loved to indulge in her food, which she compared to her ‘drug’.

She wrote: ‘Food for me is almost like a drug – I get an instant gratification from it, but it doesn’t last very long.’

Claire bounced back into shape earlier this summer, in time for the Steps’ commemorative tour which kicked off in Dublin.

They will play 22 shows in cities across the country including: Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, London and Cardiff.
