Claudia Schiffer’s ‘nepo cat’ Chip gives the supermodel a run for her money as he lands Vogue Germany cover

Claudia Schiffer’s ‘nepo cat’ Chip has landed himself a Vogue Germany cover.

The German supermodel’s cat Chip stole the show at the world premiere of Argylle last month and is now the face of the fashion magazine’s March issue.

Chip is already a big star, with his own Instagram page – which landed him an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show last year.

And now the kitty has been placed front and centre as part of Claudia’s shoot, which is her 15th cover, for Vogue Deutsch.

For the cover, entitled ‘Claudia Forever’, the supermodel held Chip tightly in her arms and looked incredible in fishnet tights, high-rise black pants and a cargo-style studded leather gilet.

Claudia finished off the cover look by sweeping her platinum blonde locks into a loose ponytail with her bangs falling around her face. She opted for a nude lip and dark smokey eye to complete the shot.

In another snap from her shoot, Claudia donned a cut-out floral white tank top laid over a pair of jeans from Valentino. Her tresses were styled in a wet look.

Her final look for the cover shoot saw her debut a very different look, as she donned a huge oversized black full-length garment which was a mixture between a coat, a cape and a military jumpsuit.

For the world premiere of her husband Matthew Vaughn’s new movie Argylle, it was her cat who stole the spotlight.

Chip has a starring role in director Matthew’s new big screen thriller, playing the pet of leading lady Bryce Dallas Howard’s Elly Conway, ‘the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie.’

Speaking of Chip’s newfound fame, Claudia said: ‘There was going to be a cat in the movie, so we hired one of those professional movie cats because we were prejudiced against our own cat, Chip.

‘But then my husband replaced the cat with Chip, who turned out to be a surprisingly good fit because he was so comfortable around Matthew. So Chip started driving to the film set with my husband every morning and had his own little area in the trailer where he could relax between takes.

‘Since then, the cat has even had his own Instagram account and his memoirs have been published in which he talks about his adventures with me in the world of fashion and film , illustrated by Angelica Hicks. His fame continues to grow, and it becomes more and more… frustrating.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Claudia talked about her fitness regime and how she prefers natural beauty.

She said: ‘I always advocate natural beauty; I try to live a very healthy lifestyle , I work out every day, I dance ballet and I try to eat a very balanced diet.

‘It makes me feel good, and when I feel good, I think I look good too. It’s like constant training and I enjoy learning and always looking for new things.’

Supermodel Claudia arrived at the London Leicester Square premiere carrying Chip in a yellow backpack.

The pussy could be seen peeking out of a window in the bag as Claudia posed up a storm in her glam dress.

Claudia proved her supermodel status as she posed in an eye-catching yellow gown with a diamond print.

The synopsis reads: ‘When the plots of Elly’s fictional books – which centre on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate – begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organisation, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.

‘Accompanied by Aiden (Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.’

Chip’s social media bio reveals that he is also an author, model, entrepreneur, influencer and nepo kitty.

‘So my husband, Matthew, the director, he asked if he could have my cat. I said, ‘Why not, he could be a “nepo cat” and here we are.’

‘We’re working on a spin-off right now.’

Chip’s co-stars include Henry Cavill, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Dua Lipa and Bryan Cranston. Catherine O’Hara, Sofia Boutella and Samuel L. Jackson also appear.

Argylle was first announced in June 2021, with Matthew directing from a script by Jason Fuchs, adapted from a yet-to-be-published novel by a mysterious writer named Elly Conway.

The writer seemingly hasn’t published a book before, with the Argylle novel’s publication originally set for September 29, 2022 and then pushed to March 29, 2023 and now apparently set for November 9, 2023.

The March issue of VOGUE Germany is available online and on newsstands from Saturday 24th February 2024.
