A cleaning expert has revealed the ultimate secret for a sparkling clean sink.

Carolina McCauley, from Perth, always uses baby oil to buff her stainless steel sink after sanitising the area with soap.

Baby oil will effectively remove streaks from shiny surfaces like porcelain and stainless steel.

Simply place a few drops on a microfibre cloth and rub your clean sink in circular motions.

You can also use baby oil to remove grease from sinks and cookware, water stains on showers and taps, and stubborn marks on toilet bowls.

The mum always uses baby oil to polish her kitchen sink after she cleans the area.

‘If you want your sink to shine, use a little baby oil,’ she advised.

She pours a small amount onto a cleaning cloth and covers all of the surfaces.

Make sure not to go overboard as you can always add more later, but an excess amount at the start can result in greasiness.

‘I just keep buffing until it begins to glisten,’ she said.

How to deep clean your sink using natural products

1. Sprinkle baking soda on the sink and clean using a scour or sponge

2. Pour white vinegar over baking soda to disinfect

3. Wash the sink with water and rub with a lemon to deodorise

4. Buff the sink with baby or mineral oil to keep it shining for weeks on end

Baby oil is truly an extremely versatile substance.

While many people use baking powder and vinegar as a natural way to clean their kitchen, another savvy mum has shared the unusual trick that transformed her sink and kettle.

Posting photos to an Australian Facebook group, Amelita said she used plain baby oil to clean the household appliances after spotting a recommendation online.

‘To whomever it was that suggested using baby oil to make the kitchen sink shiny again and to get rid of the streak marks… you are AMAZING,’ she wrote.

‘I should’ve taken photos before but here are the results anyway… I even tried it on the kettle!’
