Climate change protesters hand vegan biscuits to drivers as they block roads in Brisbane’s CBD during peak-hour commute

  • Group of demonstrators held climate change protests in Brisbane on Thursday
  •  The protesters held up signs and banners as they stopped city traffic 
  •  Protests will continue every day next week before ‘Rebellion Day on August 6

Climate change activists have been handing out vegan biscuits to commuters during a peaceful protest. 

The Extinction Rebellion SEQ group held the demonstration in Brisbane on Thursday morning, demanding action on climate change and the Adani coal mine.

The group held up traffic as they stood in the road with signs and banners as commuters made their way into the city.

The group said protests would be taking place on Thursday, with around 40 activists on Elizabeth Street. 

Other demonstrations were also planned to take on other streets in the city between 7.30am and 10:30am .

It is the third time this month that demonstrations like this have happened. 

More disruption is expected for next week when more protests are planned.
