CM Punk left bloodied and bruised by Mike Jackson

  • Mike Jackson claimed a unanimous decision victory from the judges
  • Jackson peppered Punk with punches to the face throughout the fight

CM Punk’s second outing in UFC ended in defeat once again at the United Center on Saturday night.

In his second pro fight, the former WWE star, a Chicago native, had the crowd chanting his name in the first round, but Punk was unable to show any sense of force in the cage against Mike Jackson.

Jackson peppered Punk with punches to the face throughout the fight and won in a lacklustre unanimous decision.

Punk, who was featured on the main card, didn’t help his standing with the UFC after two disappointing showings.

The 39-year-old, real name Phil Brooks, decided to swap the wrestling ring for the octagon back in 2014 but was humiliated on his debut, losing via submission to Mickey Gall in just over two minutes in 2016.

He has followed up that disastrous showing two years ago with a one-sided defeat in his home city. All three judges scored it at 30-26 to Jackson, who had also lost his only previous fight.

It was a positive start for Punk, who landed a couple of overhand rights and managed a successful takedown in the first round.

But Jackson came back strong in the second and third rounds, easily picking off Punk with the jab.

Punk’s nose was bloodied in the first round and he began to tire in the later rounds.

He was unable to mount a sustained challenge to Jackson’s dominance and was left nursing his wounds in defeat once more.
