Cocktail company statement on Karl Stefanovic ‘touching’ allegation at Mercedes-Benz gala, Newstead

A trendy cocktail company has broken its silence after one of its male waiters was allegedly ‘touched’ by Karl Stefanovic at a charity gala.

The TV host, 48, made headlines on Thursday when Queensland police confirmed they were investigating a report of an alleged assault on a man at a melanoma fundraiser at the Mercedes-Benz showroom in Brisbane’s Newstead on August 20.

Stefanovic, who hosted the six-hour event, and Nine Network have so far refused to comment, but police said on Tuesday that no charges have been laid and investigations are still underway.

It can now be revealed the man in question was bartending for Mr. Consistent at the cancer fundraiser, A Night For Melanoma, on the evening of the alleged incident.

The company specialises in cocktail mixers and provides a bar service for private events.

A spokeswoman for the business said in a statement to Daily Mail Australia: ‘Mr. Consistent prioritises the safety of their staff and any police investigation, and declines to comment on any allegations.’

It is understood detectives collected a statement from at least one person at the fundraiser.

Daily Mail Australia is not accusing Stefanovic of any wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, the married father-of-four has continued to co-host Today without reference to the the alleged incident.

The event, organised by charity group The Six Hour Project, raised a huge $290,000 for melanoma research.

Stefanovic attended with his wife, Jasmine Yarbrough, and was pictured mingling with guests and posing for photos with organisers and fans at the gala – largely while wearing a white baseball cap which read ‘f**k cancer’.

At one stage, he attempted to entice guests onto the dancefloor by hollering ‘come on…get up’ into a microphone to the ’70s disco hit ‘Le Freak’ by Chic.

The media personality shared a heartfelt post to melanoma sufferer Gina (pictured next to each other at the event)

He also took a selfie next to melanoma sufferer and event organiser, Gina Savage.

‘Gina, courage, resilience and beauty,’ he wrote on social media.

‘We just lifted the roof for you, your battles, your charity and everyone else fighting melanoma.’

Ms Savage previously appeared in an interview on the Today show with Stefanovic to tell the story of her diagnosis before the pair reunited to hold the fundraiser.

The Australian reported that several attendees did not see any altercation take place and that Stefanovic left the event in good spirits. 

‘Karl was actually being a legend the whole time,’ one said.

The allegations come after Stefanovic was pictured at Sydney airport on Wednesday after arriving back in Australia from England – having been sent to London on September 13 to cover the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
