Cody Simpson and American pop star Miley Cyrus split in August last year after less than a year of dating.
And on Sunday’s episode of Australian 60 Minutes, Cody, 24, broke his silence on their break-up, describing it as ‘fairly amicable’.
The Australian singer-turned-swimming sensation went on to describe that time in his life as ‘one of those phases’.

Interviewer Karl Stefanovic jokingly asked Cody ‘what he was thinking’ in dating someone as high-profile as Miley, 28.
‘I’d known her for a long time at that point,’ Cody said, going on to describe the Wrecking Ball star as ‘not like a mentor’ but ‘always a very hyper creative person’.
‘We went from being good friends, to just having a lot of the same friends, to being together for a while,’ he continued.

The public kiss with Cody occurred nearly two months after it was revealed that Miley and Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, 31, were getting divorced.
Cody has been dating American model Marloes Stevens, 28, since December.
