Cody Simpson is gearing up to compete at the Australian National Swimming Championships this week after spending 14 days in hotel quarantine.
And the popstar-turned-Olympic hopeful put his nose to the grindstone on Wednesday, visiting the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre for his first swim training since leaving quarantine.
Wearing a tiny pair of green swim trunks, the muscle-bound songwriter, 24, looked completely in his element as he honed his skills in the water.

Prior to flying into his hometown, Cody and his girlfriend Marloes Stevens, who have been dating since December 2020, did 14 days of mandatory quarantine in Howard Springs, Darwin.
Earlier this year, Cody revealed to The New York Times what inspired him to jump back into the pool and compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

He explained he decided he still had a shot in the pool after seeing American swimmer Caeleb Dressel – who is five months his junior – beat a record set by Michael Phelps in 2019.
‘I stopped drinking that night and started finding pools the next day,’ Cody, who hails from the Gold Coast, said.
Despite having an incredibly successful music career that saw him discovered on YouTube and signed by an American record label in 2010 at the age of 13, his childhood Olympic dreams were bigger.

‘I love the music industry very much, and I’ll continue to be a musician long into my life, but it’s not as pure of a pursuit as sport, which just comes straight down to the clock,’ he told The New York Times.
In December, Cody’s swimming coach Brett Hawke told The Daily Telegraph that Cody wants to make the 2024 Paris Olympics and win gold in the 100m butterfly.
‘The goal is Paris 2024, certainly not Tokyo. You’ll have three years to watch him progress,’ Brett said.
Brett, a former freestyle Olympic swimmer, also said of Cody’s sheer determination: ‘It’s 5am in LA and we are about to dive into a cold pool. If I didn’t see potential I would be in bed right now.’
It comes after Cody announced he’d qualified for the Australian swimming trials by swimming the 100m butterfly in 54.9 seconds, beating the benchmark of 56.87 seconds.
