Cody Simpson shows off his impressive six-pack in a photo shoot for Australian Men’s Health magazine

He’s set his sights on the Olympics, and Cody Simpson proved all that training has paid off in a photo shoot for the cover of Australian Men’s Health magazine, on sale Monday.

The 24-year-old singer-turned-Olympic swimming hopeful showed off his bulging muscles as he posed for the publication.

In one photo, a shirtless Cody flexed as he lifted a heavy-looking barbell, showing off his six-pack abs and defined biceps.

Another photo showed a shirtless Cody standing underneath what appeared to have been a lifeguard tower at a beach.

The Captain’s Dance With the Devil singer also posed behind the wheel of a vintage car, leaning out of the doorframe in a red, black and white polo shirt with a red jumper tied loosely around his shoulders.

In one artfully styled close-up shot, Cody gazed up towards the sun, peering out from behind his hand, with the shadow of his fingers landing on his face.

Cody appears on the cover of the magazine in a pair of grey pants and a wet white button-up shirt, which he holds open across his chest.

Speaking to Australian Men’s Health, Cody said he was able to learn from the experiences of those who came before him after finding fame at a young age.

‘I think I was lucky in a way to come into the industry at a time when I was able to see people who had come just before me and perhaps made some wrong decisions, so in a way, I could see these were the type of things not to do,’ he said.

‘I was genuinely scared to make decisions that could potentially propel you onto such a level of ubiquity that your normal life is completely over, and you can’t go back.

‘I’ve seen firsthand how it can destroy people, those close to me and who I’ve known well – it frightened me. I’ve always laboured to keep myself grounded with one foot firmly in reality.’

And while he said ‘swimming is very much a priority in my life right now’, Cody insisted he’s still not done with his music career and has ‘a lot left to say’.
