Cody Simpson takes a subtle swipe at ex-girlfriends Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid

Cody Simpson has revealed his ‘s***y’ former relationships with celebrities, including Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid, has inspired his upcoming new music. 

Speaking to The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Tuesday, Cody, 22, appeared to take a subtle swipe at his famous exes while admitting he’s ‘never really’ been heartbroken before. 

‘Yeah, you go through stuff. You date people in the spotlight, and then all of a sudden they’re like dating someone else and it’s all you see,’ he said. 

Cody continued: ‘It’s not like you can just block someone on Facebook, that s*** is on the news and on billboards. 

‘I remember when I broke up with a girlfriend and then moved houses, I’d walk outside and [she] was plastered on a billboard. You can’t get away from stuff.’ 

When asked by Kyle Sandilands if he has ever actually been heartbroken before, Cody stumbled, ‘Um, not really, um, no’ – but said he had cried after breakups.

‘Yeah, you go through stuff. You date people in the spotlight, and then all of a sudden they’re like dating someone else and it’s all you see,’ said Cody while speaking of his ex-girlfriends 

Discussing his new music, Cody explained: ‘I’m writing about the s*** relationships I’ve had with the industry, the people in it, women and friends. All that stuff.’

Cody added that his inspiration is ‘the awareness of coming of age in a very unique situation’ after moving from the Gold Coast to California as a teenager. 

He said: ‘I was probably 14 on my first trips to Los Angeles. I was there on my own from about 17, and I moved down to the Sunset Strip. I was raised in Hollywood.’

Prior to his romance with Miley Cyrus, Cody’s ex-girlfriends include billionaire makeup mogul Kylie Jenner, model Gigi Hadid and Lindsay Lohan’s sister Ali. 

Cody and Kylie quietly dated in 2011, but kept their romance mostly private.

Following their split, Cody went on to joke their relationship fizzled out because his name starts with a ‘C’, rather than a ‘K’ – like Kyle and all of her sisters do. 

Sitting down with Ross Mathews on his show Hello Ross in 2014, Cody laughed: ‘The whole K-O-D-Y thing didn’t really work for me.’

Cody was in a relationship with Gigi from 2013 to 2015, and later explained that their split was a ‘mutual decision’ and he is still in contact with the model. 

‘It was an amicable, mutual decision, and we still talk every now and then, but the highly publicized thing made me uncomfortable,’ he told Dujour.

‘Going out to dinner and there being all this paparazzi and stuff…. as soon as we split I had the realization that I was straying away from who I was as a whole person. ‘

Cody has also been linked to actress Bella Thorne, model Sierra Swartz, singer Charlotte Lawrence and Lindsay Lohan’s sister Ali.

He is currently in a happy relationship with Miley Cyrus. 

Speaking to Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa on Tuesday, Cody laughed: ‘I told [Miley] I used to kiss her on the TV screen when I was little. 

‘She was the only one that I had ever felt that way about when I was that age. I had a crush on her ever since I knew who she was.’
