Coldplay to play one-off Perth show for Music of the Spheres World Tour

Coldplay to bring their Music of the Spheres World Tour to Australia in November with a one-off Perth show

Coldplay announced on Tuesday they will be bringing their Music of the Spheres World Tour to Perth in November for a special one-off performance.

The British rock band posted a video on YouTube telling their 25 million subscribers they will be performing at Optus Stadium in Perth on Saturday, November 18.

They last performed in Australia in 2016, and this concert will be their first in the WA capital since February 2009.

Western Australian fans were thrilled by the news.

‘Coldplay haven’t played here since 2009 so it’s great we’re finally getting to see them live again and at our amazing Optus Stadium,’ one gushed.

Aussie fans from other states complained the one-off date meant they would be missing out on seeing the band perform.

‘Nowhere else in Aus? C’mon guys!’ one fan lamented, as another wrote: ‘Surely the tour will be around Australia? Don’t mess around please.’

Back in August, Shane Warne’s eldest daughter Brooke got a backstage pass to hang out with Coldplay after seeing them perform at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The 25-year-old, who was on holiday in England with her boyfriend Alex Heath, was invited backstage by frontman Chris Martin, who was a friend of Brooke’s father.

Brooke embraced her dad’s mate in a bear hug while beaming from ear to ear.

She posted photos on Instagram of herself and Alex spending quality time with the band, while Chris looked elated to be catching up with Shane’s daughter.

Brooke wrote in the caption: ‘Two of the most incredible nights with some very special people. Thank you, Chris, for all the happiness you bring to everyone around you.

‘We LOVE you. Coldplay will forever be my favourite concert of all time!’

Chris, 46, performed a haunting rendition of Coldplay’s Yellow at Shane’s memorial service in March last year.

The pair had been close friends since meeting in a hotel elevator in 2001.

Chris even appeared in the movie Shane, the documentary released in January 2022 about the sporting legend’s life.
