Coles releases honey BBQ roast chicken as new flavour

Coles has released a delicious new flavour of its much-loved hot roast chicken inspired by one of its most popular kebab products.

The honey roasted BBQ chicken, which is now available in all Australian Coles’ stores except for those in the Northern Territory, will set back customers just $12 and make for the ultimate family feast.

The chook has been marinated in honey, garlic and liquid smoke and stuffed with a paprika, garlic, honey, herb and breadcrumb stuffing.

‘We are always looking for ways to innovate across our existing product range and provide our customers with interesting new meal ideas,’ Coles Product Developer for Seafood & Deli Tim Hickox said.

‘We think customers will love our brand-new Coles Honey BBQ Hot Roast RSPCA Approved Chicken, the perfect weekday meal base to grab-and-go and add to their favourite recipes, such as tacos with charred corn salsa and chipotle mayo, or sliders with coleslaw and ranch dressing.’

The supermarket’s honey soy chicken kebabs were the inspiration behind the new flavour, which is a firm customer favourite.

‘We are so excited to offer them the new smoky honey flavour combination to make dinnertime even sweeter,’ Mr Hickox added.

Earlier this week Coles supersized some of its most popular products in a new ‘big value range’ to rival Costco, helping time-poor and budget conscious customers save up to 60 per cent off on their weekly shop.

The new range is a bid to help lower the cost of living for all Australians, which has also seen the supermarket lower the price of more than 2,000 popular products this year.

Available now for a limited time 44 products will be offered in value-sized packs, including breakfast and family dinner staples, condiments and pantry products such as Starbucks coffee, Darrell Lea, Maggi Noodles, Milo, Bega Peanut Butter and Coles’ Special Burger Sauce.

Some of the products can last an average family a couple of months, which means customers save time shopping in store, while managing the family budget.’
