‘I love my tomato based pasta dish with a side of caterpillar … foul!’ she wrote alongside the video.

‘Not happy at all.’

The frustrated shopper appeared to use three tins of Coles tomatoes where the caterpillar was found Wednesday.

The small bug, which had been scooped out of the sauce and put on a chopping block, appeared to be a few centimetres long.

Coles commented on the Facebook post saying they were ‘concerned to see this’.

‘Coles takes the quality of all our products seriously. We have contacted the customer and will follow up with our supplier to investigate the matter,’ a Coles spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
