A disgruntled shopper has gone on a hilarious rant after finding coriander in a pre-packaged salad she bought from Coles.
Taking to the supermarket chain’s Facebook page, Katie, from New South Wales, expressed her disgust after discovering the ‘green devil’ in a ‘Pokeslaw’ kit she purchased for lunch.
‘Feeling healthy I wandered on down to my local Coles and picked myself up a pack of this yummy looking salad and a bbq chook,’ Katie wrote.
‘But you ruined me. Like full next level ruined! Coriander! You serious? Why? A perfectly delicious looking salad ruined by the green devil itself.’
A woman named Katie has gone on a hilarious rant after she discovered Coles had included coriander as part of a pre-packaged Poke bowl kit
Coles Pokeslaw salad kit, priced at $5, lists all ingredients which includes coriander
She continued her tirade saying if she wanted to ‘eat grass, I’d just mung on my lawn out the front’.
‘So my healthy lunch turned into a feast of chicken skin and a drumstick… up your game Coles,’ she said.
‘Coriander belongs in the bin, not the salad bowl.’
Coles Pokeslaw salad kit, priced at $5, includes a full ingredient list which states wombok, cabbage, carrot, daikon radish, sesame seeds and coriander.
‘Washed and ready to eat. Mix contents of sachets with salad and serve as a side dish to your favourite meal,’ the preparation instructions says on Coles’ website.
Coriander is known to be ‘divisive’, with people either loving the taste or absolutely hating it.
Those posting on the thread following Katie’s rant were quick to agree that the fragrant herb had no place whatsoever being ‘hidden’ in a salad.
‘So glad I saw your comment! I was ready to buy this! Won’t now! Yuck! I’ll check out the other ingredients though and make it sans the devil’s weed!’ one poster said.
While another added: ‘The devil’s lettuce is a big part of Asian food, so you lose if you don’t like it, the best thing ever.’
