Colin Jost posts hilarious update on the toe injury that kept him from 2024 Olympics coverage

Colin Jost took to Instagram on Sunday to share an update on the toe injury that kept him from reporting at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The 42-year-old comedian — who was recently announced as the host of Pop Culture Jeopardy — engaged his audience of over 800K followers as he posted a mock news report about his foot.

Dressed in a dark suit jacket with the Olympics logo on one side, he began the clip saying: ‘”Dude, are you okay?” That’s the number one text message I’ve received in the last 48 hours. Usually followed by, “Heard your foot fell off!”‘

In the snippet, recorded in front of the ocean, he added, ‘Well, I’m actually fine.

‘And despite what big media conspiracies would have you believe, I wasn’t “sent home” from the Olympics. NBC simply looked at my foot, declared me legally a leper and exiled me here, to the island of Malta!’

Keeping his fans entertained, Colin continued his spiel: ‘Now Malta doesn’t have many Olympians competing this year, but it does have thousands of 15-year-old British kids competing to see who can black out the fastest, and somehow they’re all winning.’

He added, ‘It also has this casino behind me, where I’ve blown the hundreds of dollars I earned as a surfing correspondent.

‘But the real reason I’m in Malta, of course, is because it was the site of 10 separate bubonic plague outbreaks. So they thought I would fit right in.’

Luke Bradnam, an Australian meteorologist replaced Jost as the US’s 2024 Paris Olympics surfing correspondent two weeks ago.

‘I would like to sincerely thank the people of Tahiti for their warmth, their generosity, their hospitality, and for only occasionally looking at my foot and whispering “Chupacabra,”‘ the father-of-one said playfully in the video.

Chupacabra is a blood-sucking creature that consumes the blood of livestock like goats.

‘Rest assured, my foot is pretty much totally fine, even though I’m not letting you look at it,’ Jost added.

Jost’s update follows his July 29 social media post featuring a photo of his bandaged toes, which he captioned, ‘You know it’s going great when you’ve been to the Olympic medical tent more than any of the athletes.’

On July 26, he uploaded a grisly snapshot of his bloodied digits on the platform, writing, ‘This might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me #paris2024 #showfeet.’

Colin married actress Scarlett Johansson in 2020 and the couple welcomed son Cosmo in August 2021.

He is stepdad to Scarlett’s daughter Rose, who turns 10 on August 30.

Jost’s Jeopardy gig, set to stream on Amazon Prime Video, begins production this month.
