Colin Kaepernick was more than happy to pose with the actor who is playing the younger version of him in his biographical series.

The 33-year-old former NFL player posed for a few snaps with young actor Jaden Michael, 18, on the red carpet of a special screening for Colin In Black And White in New York City on Tuesday.

The two were just two of the stars in attendance at the star-studded event which took place at the Whitby Hotel to give one of the first viewings of the highly-anticipated Netflix series.

 The show – which will have Kaepernick appear as himself to narrate the series – will explore the football player’s adolescent years as a Black teen growing up with a white adopted family.

The former 49ers quarterback, who’s an executive producer on the film, grew up in Turlock, California, playing football, basketball and baseball when he was younger, as well as developing a sense of cultural identity. 

He previously shared a side-by-side comparison image of himself playing high school football for John H. Pitman High School in Turlock, California next to a promo snap of Jaden.

 He reached a settlement in a collusion lawsuit in 2019 after going unsigned by all NFL franchises in the three seasons since.

Earlier in the night there was a Q&A which took place at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan.

She finished off her outfit with a long, light blue skirt and a pair of light brown heels. 

DuVernay was joined on stage by ABC News anchor Robin Roberts and the young man playing Kaepernick in the program, Jaden Michael. 

Roberts wore a multi-colored shirt with a flower pattern and a pair of sensible black slacks while she discussed the upcoming series. 

The Wonderstruck actor wore a blue vest over a long sleeve black turtleneck and pair of black pants. He even posed next to the man he’s playing in a shot of the pair.

After the Q&A, DuVernay and Michael both changed into new outfits and met up with a pair of famous faces for a screening of the new series including Kaepernick who wore an outfit similar to the one he will don in the series, a long black coat over a black suit with a matching turtleneck to boot. 

The Wrinkle in Time director changed into a zebra print dress with a black belt tied around her waist while her leading man put on a black suit with a brown shirt underneath with its collar pulled out over through the neck. 

Michael also posed with famed editor of Vogue, Anna Wintour. She wore her blonde hair in its trademark bob and donned an orange, blue and green trench coat.

Michael will portray Kaepernick during his high school years as the young football player traverses toward his ultimate destiny of becoming an activist.

The show will consist of six episodes and will be released this Friday, October 29. 

The real life inspiration for the show, Colin Kaepernick himself, will serve as a narrator for the miniseries which will also feature Weeds actress Mary-Louise Parker and Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman in minor roles.

Netflix recently released a trailer for Colin in Black & White. The clips ran for two minutes and 40 seconds takes fans through a montage of recreated moments from the former 49ers’ life. 

The real-life Kaepernick summed up the major theme of the show in the trailer saying, ‘Trust your power. Love your blackness. You will know who you are.’
