College football mascot goes rogue and asks female reporter on a date mid-game… with embarrassing results

CNY Central sports reporter Ashley Wenskoski was likely preparing to ask questions at a postgame press conference on Saturday, when she got asked out by a college football mascot instead.

During the fourth quarter of Syracuse’s upset victory over then-No 6 Miami on Saturday, Wenskoski had a date offer from Sebastian the Ibis, the mascot for the Hurricanes’ football team.

The 24-year-old Wenskoski posted to social media about the bizarre situation before the scoreboard read all zeroes.

‘Sebastian the Ibis (Miami’s mascot) just kneeled down and asked for my number mid-drive,’ Wenskoski posted to X. ‘Feels like he has bigger things to worry about with his team on the ropes in the 4th quarter at the Dome…but who am I to say.’

Wenskoski appeared to deny the offer from Sebastian, or whoever was inside the costume, according to an Orange fan on X.

‘Pretty sure I saw the aftermath of you getting outta there or a different scenario where it looked like he was giving the “aww come on” hands. Cringe,’ the fan said.

Wenskoski has not posted more about the situation, taking it in stride.

Sebastian definitely went for it, joking or not, with the bravado that you miss 100 percent of the shots you do not take.

Others on social media wanted to pick up where Sebastian let off.

‘This dude…you are not from the right team. Also, take a number my friend, everybody want to date Ashley. She is the number 1 recruitment target – she can replace Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson!’ a Syracuse fan said.

The win for Clemson was a monumental one, which sent Miami out of the Atlantic Coast Conference title game and let Clemson come back into the College Football Playoff picture after losing to South Carolina.

Syracuse reached its ninth win of the season for the first time since 2018 with former Ohio State starter Kyle McCord running the offense.

It was the first win over a top-10 team for Syracuse since defeating Clemson in 2017.

And for Miami, the long wait to see if it makes the CFP is on while taking losses on and off the field.
