Star Collingwood defender Darcy Moore is off the market after signing a contract extension to remain at the AFL club until the end of 2028.

Set to be a Magpie for life, 26-year-old Moore said he was excited to be a part of Collingwood’s future.

“I’m glad to come to an arrangement with the club and continue my football career at Collingwood,” Moore said in a statement on Thursday.

Moore has been in great form this season and is one of the AFL’s best intercepting defenders

“With a new coaching group and young squad, we are creating strong foundations for the future – this is exciting to be a part of.”

The deal is expected to earn Moore around $900,000 a season, according to the Herald Sun.

Collingwood GM of Football Graham Wright said they were delighted to lock down vice-captain Moore, the hottest free agent on the market.

“We’re rapt to extend Darcy so he can potentially finish his career here at Collingwood,” Wright said.

“Darcy is already a vice-captain of the club and I’m sure he has aspirations to captain the club down the track.

“All-Australian key defenders, 200cm plus of his calibre are hard to find.

“We respected the fact he was a free agent at the end of this year, and he would take some time to make his decision.

“We are pleased to come to terms that should see Darcy play out his career at Collingwood.”

An All-Australian, Moore has played 105 games and kicked 65 goals since making his debut in the black and white in 2015.

He returned to action this season after injuring his right knee in round 13 last year.
