Colombia 1-0 Qatar: Crystal Palace target Duvan Zapata scores second goal in two games to book place in last eight at Copa America

  • Group B leaders Colombia are through to the quarter-finals after second victory
  • Zapata rose with five minutes left to head home a cross from James Rodriguez
  • Colombia had a goal disallowed for offside and a penalty overturned by VAR

A late goal from Crystal Palace target Duvan Zapata, his second in two games, gave Colombia a 1-0 win over Qatar on Wednesday and ensured their place in the quarter-finals of the Copa America.

Zapata rose with five minutes left to head home a floated James Rodriguez cross and break the deadlock in a scrappy but end to end encounter on a chilly night at Sao Paulo’s Morumbi stadium.

The result means Colombia, who beat Argentina 2-0 in their opening match, now have six points and top Group B, with Argentina playing Paraguay later on Wednesday.
