Elic Ayomanor produced a stunning catch in overtime as Stanford battled back from 29-0 down to stun Colorado on Friday night.

Home fans were left in tears in Boulder after Deion Sanders’ team surrendered a huge advantage to slip to 4-3. It was the biggest blown lead in Colorado history, the biggest comeback in Stanford history and the largest post-halftime turnaround ever in Pac-12.

Ayomanor played a crucial role in the comeback, ending with a remarkable 13 catches, three touchdowns and 294 yards – another school record. He then produced the play of the night to take the game into double overtime.

With Stanford trailing 43-36, quarterback Ashton Daniels looked for Ayomanor who was being tracked by two-way star Travis Hunter.

Somehow, with Hunter between him and the ball, the receiver managed to trap the ball against his opponent’s helmet and drag both Hunter and the ball into the endzone.

‘Oh my God… oh what a catch,’ the announcers screamed on ESPN, while Ayomanor simply stood in the endzone with his arms outstretched.

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders then threw an interception, giving Stanford the chance to win the game, which the visitors duly did courtesy of a 31-yard field goal from Joshua Karty.

It was the first time Stanford had led all night. After the game ‘Coach Prime’ bemoaned his team’s ‘foolishness… complacency… (and) flatout ridiculousness.’

‘I am truly upset, I am truly disturbed,’ he said. ‘From youth I don’t remember being 29-0 up in a football game and losing.’

Earlier, it had seemed Hunter would produce the highlight of the game.

He marked his return from a lacerated liver with a brilliant touchdown. Hunter was sidelined after a late hit in the team’s week-three win over Colorado State, which saw defender Henry Blackburn receive death threats.

And in the first quarter against Stanford, he showed ‘Coach Prime’ what the Buffaloes have been missing with a fine spin move to score.

The receiver caught a pass from Shedeur Sanders on the Stanford 22-yard line. Then, as a defender prepared to tackle him and prevent a first down, Hunter spun out of reach and raced in to the end zone.
