A college sports star’s conspicuous spending spree was once cause for an NCAA investigation. But now that student athletes are allowed to profit off their name, image and license (NIL), that’s clearly not an issue these days.

Take Colorado football star Travis Hunter, an All-American cornerback so athletically gifted that he moonlights as a wide receiver for coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes.

In past years, players like Hunter had to wait to turn pro before they could go out and buy extravagant gifts for their loved ones. But as seen in a recent video posted on Hunter’s YouTube channel, he had no problem buying his mother her dream home in Savannah, Georgia.

‘Great news and a great update,’ he said in the recently posted video. ‘We just got my mom a house. We just got approved. We’re gonna surprise her.’

A month later, Hunter and his fiancée, Leanna Lee, stunned his mother by bringing her to the five-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home in Savannah.

‘Y’all got me good,’ Hunter’s mom exclaimed in the video.

And it’s not Hunter’s only major purchase.

The 20-year-old previously bought Lee a car and last month, presented her with a diamond engagement ring that the couple shared online.

And it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he can afford such generosity. While it’s unclear how much he’s earned from endorsement deals, On3.com ranks him sixth among college athletes with an estimated NIL valuation of $2.4 million.

The future NFL star recently signed deals with EA Spors and Leaf Trading Cards after previously signing with Celsius Energy Drink.

Admittedly, Hunter gets something out of his mother’s new home.

Originally from the Atlanta area, Hunter admittedly has always loved Savannah, in part, because it allows him the opportunity to go fishing.

What’s more, Lee’s parents already live in the historic coastal city abutting the South Carolina border. So by moving Hunter’s mother to Savannah, the new couple can spend more time with family – both theirs and their partner’s.

‘Moving her to Savannah, next to Leanna’s parents, so we don’t have to make two trips every time we go to visit,’ Hunter said. ‘And it’s much easier for us. And I can also fish a lot.’

Overwhelmed, Hunter’s mother thanked both her son and his finacee for the home, telling them that she loves them.

‘A little vanity over there in the closet?’ she’s heard suggesting while standing in her new walk-in closet.

‘Thank you so much, give mommy a hug.’
