A man has accused ABC host Tom Ballard of sexually assaulting him four years ago.

In a blog post on his own website Ballard responded to the sexual assault allegation made by an aspiring comedian, insisting ‘I have not done anything wrong’.

ABC host Tom Ballard (pictured) has denied allegations of sexual assault which were aired on Facebook on Saturday

‘Over the past six months I have become aware of a claim being made about me,’ Ballard wrote.

‘It involves an allegation of sexual assault: an allegation that I completely deny in the strongest terms possible.

‘It fundamentally goes against who I am as a person and everything I believe in. Today (Saturday) that claim was aired publicly.’

The Age reported Ballard was alleged to have indecently assaulted the man in June 2014 when they were together in a hotel room.

‘Four years ago I had a consensual sexual experience with someone. I had absolutely no idea he believed it wasn’t consensual until six months ago,’ Ballard said.

‘His version of that experience as described on social media is simply not what happened.’

Ballard said ‘I abhor sexual assault and sexual violence’ and added ‘I absolutely support the philosophy of the #MeToo movement’.

The man said he went to police with the allegation but as Ballard ‘hadn’t gone outside of the confines of the law’, police had reportedly said they could not investigate further.
