Carrie Bickmore got a treat for one of her final days on The Project. 

The TV star will shortly depart the nightly current affairs program, and she was seen out with a surprise. 

Saturday Night Live comedian Jay Pharoah stopped by the show on Monday night and showed off some of his incredible impersonations.

He was encouraged by the team to have a go at replicating Carrie’s cadence, and he did his absolute best. 

Jay asked Carrie to say something that he could copy, and she replied: ‘Well, it has been lovely having on the show tonight’. 

The American star quickly repeated the sentence in a perfect Australian accent.

‘My god, I got it!’ he cried out as the audience and Carrie’s co-stars burst into a round of applause. 

‘I’m scared!’ Carrie replied after the uncannily accurate impression. 

Carrie is set to star in her final show on November 30. Sarah Harris, who previously hosted Studio 10, will now take the role.

Sarah recently told Stellar magazine: ‘I did not see this coming. And I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.’  

‘It’s such an incredible opportunity to step into some pretty huge shoes and be part of The Project’s next chapter.

‘I can’t wait to learn more, and have some fun with Waleed and the team. This is one of the biggest jobs in TV, and feels like a once-in-a-lifetime gig’.

While Wilkinson and Helliar's replacements are yet to be announced, Sarah Harris was confirmed to take over from Bickmore last week

Channel 10 confirmed Sarah Harris (pictured) will replace Carrie as the host of the show alongside Waleed Aly five nights a week
