Commonwealth Bank outrage continues as workers left without their weekly wages

Furious workers say they have gone without food for DAYS after a crippling Commonwealth Bank outage meant they weren’t paid their wages

  • Some claim they haven’t received wages from their work because of blackout
  • One mother claimed she couldn’t afford to pay for weekend out with children
  • A person claimed mortgage payments were taken despite having no money

Outraged workers say they have been unable to pay for petrol and food days after a massive Commonwealth Bank outage.

Millions of Australians were left strapped for cash for several hours after being unable to access a number of the bank’s services on Thursday.

CBA’s internet banking, mobile app, BPAY and in-branch and call centre services were eventually restored 12 hours later.

The temporary hitch also appears to have impacted businesses as they were unable to pay many of their workers their wages.

A number of CBA customers have taken to the bank’s Facebook page and claimed they have still yet to receive their pay.

‘We’re still without the wages we were due to be paid on Thursday which means we don’t have the money to cover direct debits and other things we’re supposed to be paying,’ one person commented.

‘Late fees are going to start piling up so then we’ll have another fight to get that reimbursed.’

Another person claimed even though they were still waiting for their payment to clear, the bank still dipped into their accounts to pay the mortgage.

‘Not good enough … no pay since THURSDAY!! Took THEIR MORTGAGE PAYMENT THOUGH!! Overdrew the account.. took what little funds we had left … charged me a fee!! And still no pay to feed my family!!! And all we get is ‘sorry for the inconvenience!!’.’

One mother said she had to cancel her weekend plans with her children simply because she now couldn’t afford to pay for the outing.

‘Unable to attend the local agricultural show today. 2 very disappointed kids. Thanks a lot Commbank,’ she commented.

CBA released a public apology following the outage saying it was working hard to mediate the blackout.

‘We are working through the backlog of payments as quickly as possible and rest assured that all payments both into and out of customer accounts are being processed as a priority,’ CBA said in a statement.

The bank has regularly posted to its social media page to inform customers of the latest updates.

The bank recommends customers to contact the call centre teams with any enquiries.
