Competitive eater Nela Zisser strangest foods she’s tried

There are few food challenges competitive eater Nela Zisser won’t take on, but she draws the line at eating anything that’s ‘not edible’.

The ferocious foodie has clocked up some serious numbers: she can devour six burritos in 12 minutes, 22 Big Macs in under and hour, and a 10,000 calorie English breakfast in one sitting.

Though she admitted she’s always had a passion for eating large quantities, she revealed on Thursday it was her mum who gave her the push to try her hand at competitions.

Speaking on The Morning Show the model explained she’d been a ‘relatively big eater growing up’, and said, ‘I think that’s why she told me to go into the contest.’

Though the 25-year-old model eats enormous amounts when competing, it would seem she is able to maintain her slim figure seemingly without too much effort.

‘Most competitive eaters are pretty fit because you have to have the stamina to keep going throughout a 10 or 15 minute contest, Ms Zisser revealed.

She also added: ‘It’s more about how often I do it. Recently I have only done one every two or three months.’

In a previous interview, Ms Zisser said she was able to take on massive challenges by ‘preparing’ her stomach in advance.

‘Basically you just need to eat enough the day before to kind of get your stomach stretched, and then you just go into it with a good technique and hope you win,’ she said.

‘[When you’re doing a competition] you just have to zone out a little bit and just try to eat it as quickly as possible so you just put yourself into a kind of zone where you’re trying to get it down as fast as you can.’

And while competitive eating activities might see her slated as someone who isn’t ‘health focused’, Ms Zisser maintains she approaches the challenges carefully.

‘It’s not bad for your body as long as your careful and know when to stop. And I think I know that place of myself. I think I know when I have had too much,’ she said in her most recent interview.

While her avaricious appetite has seen her devour all manner of foods, the strangest things she said she’d ever eaten was a tarantula and a scorpion.

Although burgers, burritos and breakfasts might go down easier, Ms Zisser’s next challenge comes with a little more heat.

‘For my next video I am doing some really hot spicy noodles,’ she said.

‘It’s called the fire noodle challenge and a lot of people have done it on YouTube . I have got some noodles that are two times as hot as those,’ she concluded.
